Abstract

Valve-gear; valves.-Relates to engines of the type in which valves in the cylinder head are actuated by a face-cam situated over the ends of the valves. According to the invention, the valve-stems are provided with hollow guide-pistons D enclosing the springs and sliding in guides in a detachable cylinder head. The cam may comprise pairs of cam-surfaces E on spur-wheels E' rotated at one-fourth the speed of the crankshaft. Cylinders and valve chests; pipes and passages for.-The cylinder head B for a pair of cylinders is formed with inlet and exhaust passages K, K<1>, separated by a hot wall L<2> and with inlet and exhaust openings which register with openings in flanges M<1>, M<2> on opposite sides of the cylinder casting. The inlet and exhaust pipes are connected to these flanges, and the cylinder head can be removed without disturbing the pipes.
