Abstract

Phosphoric acid is obtained by treating phosphate with an equivalent quantity or less of sulphuric acid of such a concentration, for instance 42 DEG B<\>ae, that enough water is present to hydrate the calcium sulphate completely. The operation may be effected in ordinary superphosphate apparatus, and the mass, after removal from the den in the usual manner, is leached in ordinary apparatus. The hydration of the calcium sulphate may be completed in the leaching apparatus by wetting the mass. The phosphoric acid obtained is of 30 DEG B<\>ae.
