Abstract
164,461. Guy, H. March 4, 1920. Spring devices. - In spring forks for motorcycles &c. wherein a sliding or telescopic member connected to the wheel axle is controlled by springs mounted on the steering-stem, the sliding member d is arranged to move within a tubular portion c of a girder fork and is connected to the front ends of leaf springs g rigidly fixed to and projecting forwardly from the steering-stem a. As shown in Fig. 1, the upper end of the member d is linked as at e to the springs and an auxiliary spring h is provided; the lower end of the member may, however, be secured to an inverted U-shaped piece bridging the wheel and connected to the leaf springs, an elastic or other sleeve being fitted over the lower end of the portion c and the adjacent exposed part of the member d. According to one of the Provisional Specifications either or both the upper and lower ends of the members d may be connected through one or more springs directly or indirectly to the crown.
