Abstract

186,755. MacLean, J. P. July 29, 1921. Spring devices.-In front forks for motor-cycles wherein the fork 1, Figs. 1 and 5, and spring- controlled stays 10 are pivoted to bell-crank levers 6, fulcrumed at 7 to the axle of the front wheel, the stays 10 are each controlled by two coiled springs 17, 18 housed in a single casing 16 connected to the steering-column 2. The front fork 1 may be of pressed sheet metal as shown in Fig. 1. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the front fork 1 is pivoted at 4 to, or to an extension of, the steering-column 2, and the upper end acts through a substantially horizontal coiled spring 21 in known manner. The Provisional Specification states that the casing may be connected to the steering-column at the top of the steering- hend or pivoted to the crown of the front fork.
