Abstract
163,464. Youlten, W. Feb. 17, 1920. Openers and cleaners; feeding openers and cleaners.-Automatic apparatus for controlling the feed-valve and the discharge-valve of an opener or cleaner for cotton, wool, &c. comprises a casing c, Fig. 3, containing a belt-driven shaft d carrying a pivoted bracket o in which is mounted a gear keyed to the shaft d and an idle gear p adapted to be engaged by movement of the bracket with one or other of the gears f - - f<5> on a parallel shaft s. A worm wheel h driven by the shaft s has mounted upon its boss wheels k engaging gears l on a common shaft m. The wheels k and l are toothed sectionally to rotate the pinions l intermittently. The pinions l carry discs r, r<1> with crank pins r<2>. The disc r is connected by a link 1, Fig. 1, to a lever 2 which turns a shaft 6 and through belts 8, 10 rotates the shaft 11 of the feed-valve 13. The disc r<1> is connected through a link 14 to lever 15 which turns a shaft 19 to open and close the delivery-valve 25.
