Abstract
162,940. Master, S. D. May 26, 1920. Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members.-In wheels of the kind comprising a hub 1, an inner rim 3, an outer rubber or like rim 8, radial ribs 4 on the inner rim dividing the intermediate space into chambers in which are springs 6, guided wood or metal piston blocks 7, and side plates 5 secured to the inner rim, the piston blocks are of segmental shape and each block is formed with a recess 9 in each end of its outer face to co-operate with ribs 10 carried by the outer rim. Elastic strips may be interposed between the blocks and the outer rim; a thin metal tyre 11, which may be corrugated, may be placed round the outer rim; the ribs 10 may be integral with or separate from the outer rim, and additional springs 14 may be employed. There may be two series of chambers, and springs 6<1>, Fig. 7, and the blocks 7 may have recesses through which pass bolts 20.
