Abstract

Composite slabs.-Composite boards or slabs of the kind having a body portion of hardened cementitious mixture and enclosing-sheets of paper, fabric, &c. are provided with enclosing-sheets which are folded over the edges. Fig. 1 shows one form of board having a body portion 10 of stucco or gypsum and covering sheets 11, 12, the covering sheet 12 being folded over the edges to the full depth, while the other sheet 11<1> is folded over either to the full depth or only to part of the depth of the board, the sheets being cemented at the edges by adhesive such as silicate of soda, insoluble glass, pitch, tar, &c. The boards may be readily attached to studding by nailing &c. and, as shown in Fig. 5, the gap at the junction of the boards may be filled in by a plastic substance 15. The contour of the board edges may be as shown in Fig. 6 or 7.
