Abstract

A fireproof setting composition comprises expanded vermiculite, magnesite and a solution of magnesium chloride with or without fitting agents. Specified filling agents are perite, slate dust, china clay or hydraulic cement either singly or in combination. The composition can be pressed into shape between layers of paper, plywood or sheet metal, and if fibrous, sheets are waterproofed by a synthetic resin layer. Casein and borax in the composition improves its adhesion to the paper.
