Abstract

161,762. Ebsworth, R. H. Feb. 6, 1920. Vacuum apparatus. - In a vacuum fuel-feed apparatus for carburet. tors of the type in which the vacuum and atmospheric valves are actuated by a float in a direction transverse to the line of movement of the float, the valve seats 11, 12 are arranged in the wall of the casing, so that a transparent cover 36 may be used. The float 16 may act through a lever 8, which is connected at one end to the valve rods, and at the other to the float rod through a tensioned link, such as a spring 30 adapted to give a snap action. The connection of the spring with the lever may be adjusted. The spring 30 is balanced by another spring 31 or by two rods connected to the float rod and pivoted to the pivots of the lever 8. The rods of the valves 9, 10 are connected by a removable pivot 24, so that the valves may be removed. The valved connection 20 between the vacuum and feed chambers is also removable. The inlet 35 for the fuel is directed upwards, so that the fuel washes the underside, of the cover.
