Abstract

161,747. Marks, E. C. R., (Gilbert & Barker Manufacturing Co.). Feb. 2, 1920. Air and steam pressure sprayers.-A liquid-fuel burner comprises a body portion A having inlets 20, 21 for oil, and steam or air respectively, and a cap C, the body and cap being spaced apart by plates 21, 27, and 32. The plate 21 has an orifice 24 registering with the fuel passage 17 and an opening 25 registering with the air or steam passage 18 and flared at 26. The plate 27 has an opening 30 registering with the orifice 24 in plate 21, and serves to separate the plate 32, which is. of similar construction to plate 21, from the latter. The cap C is secured by bolts and nuts 41 to the body portion and retains the plates in position. The oil passes by the passage 17 through the openings in the plates and a space 44 in the cap to the flared opening 35, while the air or steam passes through the passage 18 to the flared opening 25 and serves to spray the oil. The plates 21 and 32 are easily replaced by removing the retaining bolts, and other plates of various thicknesses and angles of opening may be substituted.
