Abstract

160,903. Searle, R. M. Dec. 23, 1919. Copy-holders.-Copy-holders of the type having a relatively movable line-guide and work-support are provided with an elongated lamp to illuminate the field in the rear of the line guide, while the eyes of the user are shielded from the light rays. An elongated lens to magnify the work, and a light-filter, to absorb certain of the rays thrown on the work and to produce artificial davlight, are also provided. The work-support 2, Fig. 2, may be vertically adjustable step by step on a stationary frame 1 by means of a lever 3. An elongated lamp 21, Fig. 3, enclosed in a casing 22, the edge 9 of which may form a line-guide, and an elongated lens 16 are carried by pivoted parallel arms 12, 15 from the frame 1. A lightfilter 24 may be pivoted to the lamp casing. The edge 22<a> of the lamp casing may be corrugated to provide ventilating passages and prevent burning of the work.
