Abstract

160,851. Tunstall, J. W. April 29, 1920. Cabin and deck lights.-A port light comprises a main frame fixed to the side of the vessel, a supplementary frame, and a glass holder pivoted to the supplementary frame in such a way that it may be swivelled without opening the supplementary frame. The main frame comprises a ring a with an integral flange a' which is secured by bolts. The supplementary frame comprises a ring c and a flange c<1>. The two frames are hinged together at d, the holes in the brackets being oval so that the supplementary frame may be adjusted bodily towards its seat to equalize the pressure. A glass window holder j is pivoted on diametral pins i, and a tight joint is made between the main frame, secondary frame, and glass-holder by means of a rubber ring m, which is fixed to the secondary frame by a loose ring n. Screwed bolts q are pivoted on lugs p carried by the main frame, and forked lugs r are provided on the secondary frame for securing the two frames together by handles t. A stud u is fixed to the secondary frame and carries a catch plate v having a slot v<1>. The movement of the plate is controlled by a stud w fixed to the secondary frame, which co-operates with a slot v<2>. When it is required to swivel the glass-holder, the nuts tare slackened and the plate v moved to the right to free the edge of the holder, which may then be swivelled without withdrawing the secondary frame. In a modification, Fig. 3, the joint-making packing m is supported on the main frame a.
