Abstract

160,488. Hall, J. W. M., and McIntosh, G. Aug. 7, 1920. Rotary cylindrical valves; lift valves; locking. -A valve for controlling compressed air or other fluid comprises a hollow cylinder c fixed to the compressed air main and having a sleeve a fitting over it and having an outlet b. A port b is provided in the cylinder c and the two members are pressed apart by a spring i. The cylinder c carries a stud d working in a slot in the sleeve having three portions e, f, g. To operate the valve, the sleeve a is moved endways by hand pressure, then rotated, and then released. The valve is thus locked in either its open or closed positions by the pin d. In a modification, Fig. 7, a disc valve j may be secured to the head a of the sleeve, the construction being otherwise similar. In another modification, Fig. 9, the valve j is carried by the member c which is perforated at l, and the valve seat is formed in a cross-member m.
