Abstract

160,119. Robinson & Son, Ltd., T., and Robinson, C. J. July 29, 1920. Sawing.-In a horizontal log-sawing machine, a single lever 23 controls the log-traversing shaft 15 and the saw-frame adjusting-shaft 14 so that either may be connected, but not both simultaneously, to a hydraulic variable-speed and reversing device 6 driven by a constantly-running pulley 8. The shafts 14, 15 carry loose wheels 12, 13 gearing with a driving pinion 11, and adapted to be clutched to the respective shafts by clutch rings 18, 19, moved by the lever 23 through a rod 22 and bell cranks 20, 21. A hand adjustment for the saw frame is provided by means of a hand-wheel 34.
