Abstract
159,829. Zeiss, C. '[Firm of]. March 4, 1920, [Convention date]. Linear-dimension gauges. - Cylindrical end gauges of the type provided with surrounding holders have the holders formed approximately equal to the gauge in length formed at one end to receive and at the other to enter similar holders of other end gauges, so that an end gauge corresponding to the total length of several of a set may be built up. The end gauge a ha.s rounded ends and is enclosed by a sleeve b provided at the ends with parts c, d having external and internal screws c<1>, d<1> respectively. A spring e surrounds the gauge a abutting at one end against a shoulder c<3> on the part c and at the other against a pin f passed through the gauge a, the ends of the pin working in slots g of the part c. In the form shown one end of the combination takes a micrometer h which, when screwed on, moves all the gauges to a slight extent against the influence of other springs.
