Abstract
245,066. Zeiss, C. [Firm of]. Dec. 27, 1924, [Convention date]. Linear-dimension gauges; surface and outline gauges.-In a gauge for measuring holes, screwthreads, &c. having two feeling members and a device for indicating their relative movement, the feeling members may be moved together in the same direction without affecting the indicating instrument. In Fig. 1, a ball g which contacts with the spring-pressed plunger h of an indicating instrument i is engaged by a feeling bolt c having an inclined bearing face c<2>, and by a second feeling bolt b having a bearing face b<2>. Both feeling bolts may have inclined faces, and positioning studs are arranged in offset branches of the casting a. Rotation of the bolts with in. clined faces is prevented by studs d engaging slots. Fig. 4 shows a modification adapted for gauging internal screw-threads. The plug gauge r is formed with springs v<1>, v<2> through which spring-pressed feeling bolts w<1>, w<2> pass and engage the flanks of the thread being gauged. The bolts also bear on the spring arms s<1>, s<2> of a slotted member s the end of which is in contact with the plunger z of the indicating instrument. The inclined ends of the arms SI, 82 bear upon a roller t which is supported by the flat end u of the plug.
