Mine and colliery signalling systems.-A relay, applicable for cancelling signals in mine signalling apparatus, has two armatures which respond to a weak and to a strong current respectively. Thus an armature may close a cancelling or other circuit when the engine begins to move, while the other may operate when the engine attains a given speed and the current reaches a corresponding value. The armature C has a narrower air-gap and corresponds to a weak current, closing contacts at F. This armature has a small cross-section so as to be saturated by a small flux. The armature E has a larger cross section and a large air gap, and responds to a heavier current, first breaking contact at F and then pulling away the lever I, pivoted at H, so as to break contact at J.
