Safety arrange - ments and connections: controllers, actuating.- A series or compound motor is automatically controlled against overload and overspeed by a device depending on the opposed potential-drop effects in shunts connected across the motorarmature and the series field. In one apparatus two opposing windings A. B Fig. 2, of which the winding A is connected across the motor armature C and the winding B across the series field D act differentially upon a member E operating a resistance switch G, or upon a circuit making and breaking device. Alternatively the windings may act upon a brake. Wheel trains and electromagnets may be interposed.
