Abstract

187,046. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). July 25, 1921. Automatic starting systems.-Relates to motor control switches and relays such as are employed to change from starting to running conditions in connecting alternating current motors successively to reduced voltage and full voltage supply. According to the invention the successive connections are effected by two electromagnetic switches 12, 13 controlled by a two-way electromagnetic switch 15 normally biassed to the starting side corresponding to a contact 22, and adapted to move automatically to the running side corresponding to the second contact 23, and afterwards to be held there magnetically. The change over is produced by the impact of a falling member 20 which is first set free from a counterpoise 17 by the action of a shunt winding 18 and is afterwards subject to a currentlimit restraint due to a series winding 21.
