Abstract

Protective arrangements.-An electromagnetic earthing-switch of the kind described in Specification 8895/15 is provided with a closed secondary winding to diminish the inductance of the switch and with an additional earth contact. The protected apparatus c, shunted by a non-inductive resistance i, is connected between the primary windings b, d of an electromagnet the cores of which are provided with short-circuited windings k, l. The armature f is connected to line a and carries a contact h adapted to engage the earthed contact e or an additional earthed contact j. In a modification, the apparatus c is placed between the electromagnet and the earthed contact j; and in a second modification only one primary winding is employed.
