Switches without quick action; pneumatic blowouts.-Heavy current switches have movable members provided with air scoops or vanes adapted to create a current of air on motion of the movable members, to diminish or blow out the arc formed by the current interruption. The switch comprises a switching disc a fitted on a shaft b, and provided with current conducting segments c, d connected to the circuit. Segments c and f are interposed between the current carrying segments, and may be made of insulating material or of conducting material suitably insulated. Stationary carbon brushes g - - k bear against the segments of the switching disc and air vanes or scoops l - - o are formed on the lower side of the switching disc, to create currents of air on movement of the disc, such currents passing through apertures n - - s.
