Abstract

157,167. St³ting, H. Jan. 8, 1921, Rolling tubes.-Pilger rolls, mounted similarly to ordinary rolls, are employed in a universal rolling-mill. The rolls e, Figs. 4 and 5, have grooves of convex section, running out into grooves of part-circular section, the sections at the points a - - d being shown in Fig. 6. After the first pass the material has the form f, while g indicates the material rolled down in the second pass. In a modification the grooves may be of flat section running out as before into part-circular form. Further modifications of the peripheral surfaces of the rolls are also described. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which the grooves are of concave section running out into a part-circular section.
