Locking nuts. - A nut a is provided with a hollow extension b to receive a collar q having ratchet teeth on its lower face adapted to engage corresponding teeth on a washer e. A spring i is arranged above the collar g to keep the parts g, e in engagement. In assembling the device, a screw pin d is passed through the extension b of the nut and engages one of a number of slots h in the collar g thereby fixing the parts a, g against relative rotation. The engagement of the ratchet teeth on the parts g, c allows relative movement in one direction only.
