Order - type apparatus.-In order to increase the limit of speed of rotation of motors 'synchronized in the manner described in Specification 155,586, there are combined for the operation of any one shaft an alternating- current motor, of the type described in that Specification, and a continuous - current motor also supplied with slip rings and of a similar construction, the magnetic circuits of the motors being so arranged in constant angular relationship that the separate synchronizing couples are additive and' their sum substantially constant. The shafts of the motors may be arranged separately and in - constant angular, relationship by mechanical means, or the two windings may be grouped together or combined on one body. Coils 11 and 12, Fig. 2, are excited by direct and coils 13 and 14 by alternating current; and coils 15 - - 18, Fig. 3, are connected together and supplied with direct current at E, F and with alternating current at G, H.
