Open-hearth furnaces. - The reversible, regenerative furnace described in the parent Specification is modified by employing a stationary flat hearth A<1> supported on walls B<1> and by the provision of charging doors O in the top or front and rear walls of the furnace chamber A. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the hearth is of increased length. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
