Abstract

154,515. Griffith, A. W. June 2, 1920. Worm-and-wheel gearing comprises a worm in the form of a ball 4 driving two internal worm gears 6 with axes at right-angles to the shaft 2 driving the worm. The ball 4 is truncated at opposite poles. The gears 6 may be formed externally with spur teeth 10 and drive the casing 11 of a balance gear 15, Fig. 2, or they may be secured to separate shafts 17, Fig. 5.
