Abstract

Tropinone monocarboxylic esters are obtained by condensing acetoacetic esters with methylamine and succindialdehyde. In an example, the reaction using acetoacetic ethyl ester is effected in a well-cooled alcoholic solution. The product may be converted into ecgonine.
