1537429 Text processing system INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 24 Aug 1977 [4 Oct 1976] 35556/77 Heading G4A A text processing system includes a plurality of units 12B, 16, 17 having different control signal formats interconnected by a system control processor (SCP) 60; when SCP 60 receives data including text data and control signals from one of units 12B, 16, 17 it adds further control signals to derive modified data which includes control signals acceptable to all of units 12B, 16, 17 and which is then stored in a page memory 64 from which it is later extracted and transmitted to one of units 12B, 16, 17 after deletion of control signals not acceptable to the unit to which transmission is made; resulting gaps in the data may be removed before transmission to provide continuous transmitted data. The modified data may also be stored in a non-volatile store 19. SCP 60 may be controlled by microinstructions stored in a read-only store (63, Fig. 2, not shown) and may be connected via a multi-processor connector (65) to a controller (61) controlled by microinstruction stored in a further read-only store (171) and controlling unit 12B formed as a xerographic copier. SCP 60 and controller (61) may each perform pipelined execution of instructions, two following bytes being read from working memory while the present instruction is being executed. The working store (172) and input and output registers (173, 174) in the concontroller (61) are accessible by both the controller (61) and SCP 60.
