1534152 Convertible chair-bed W STEEL & CO Ltd 3 Feb 1976 [3 Feb 1975] 4594/75 Heading A4J A chair-bed comprises a seat 1, a backrest 5 hinged to the seat at a position 6 intermediate the ends of the seat and a rear portion 7 hinged to the upper end of the backrest, the rear portion being releasably engaged with the rear end of the seat portion in the chair position and the rear portion and the backrest being supported by members 10, 11 in the bed position. A rod 12 pivotally connected between the seat portion and the member 11 automatically moves the member 11 into the bed supporting position as the backrest is pivoted rearwardly. Two lugs 14 provided in the crosspiece 9 of the rear portion releasably engage apertures 15 in the rear crosspiece 4 of the seat portion in the chair position.
