Abstract

A convertible chair comprises legs 3 supporting a stationary mattress element 7 and a chair back 2. The arms 4 of the chair are secured to a movable mattress element 6 which, in the chair position, is folded over, the stationary mattress element 7 and presents a seat suspension 6<1>. To convert the chair into a bed, the arms together with the movable mattress element are tilted about hinges 8 at the front of the chair until the arms come into contact with the ground and the mattress element 6 is in line with the mattress element 7.
