Thermionic relays. -In a thermionie relay suitable for the amplification of speech currents an alternating current f<1> is directly applied to the anode filament circuit of a duplex valve to furnish the anode potentials, and the interfering note is extinguished in the telephones. Currents f<2> to be amplified are applied to the grids, and the telephone placed in a circuit coupled, by a transformer B, to part of an inductance AA shunted across the two anodes. The transformer B is provided with an auxiliary winding a, arranged in opposition to the other winding connected across the anodes, so that by adjustment of the rheostat R, the effect of the current of frequency f<1> is neutralized in the telephone circuit.
