Wireless telephony; electric oscillations, producing.-A wireless telephone transmitter comprises a relatively feeble valve oscillator 3 in which the amplitude of oscillation is controlled by the voice, and a valve amplifier 4 serving to amplify the valve-controlled oscillation. The mean anode potential of the oscillator 3 may be varied directly by a microphone or by a control valve 11. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the anode battery 12 of the control valve is connected to the anode through a choke coil 13, and the anode is connected to the anode battery 14 of the oscillator 3. Alternatively, the microphone or the control valve may vary the grid potential of the oscillator or may control the amplitude and frequency of the oscillation in the oscillator by introducing more or less resisttance into its circuit. The potential of the battery 10 in the grid circuit of the amplifier may be such that the grid never becomes positive. In order to reduce or prevent radiation except when the microphone is disturbed by speech, the anode potential of the oscillator 3 may be just insufficient to allow it to generate oscillations except when the anode potential is raised by the fluctuation of the microphone current. The microphone may be replaced by an electro-magnetic transmitter.
