Abstract

1525757 Photo-sensitive image-forming materials OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 22 Oct 1975 [23 Oct 1974] 43385/75 Heading G2C A light-sensitive material developable with water optionally containing a surfactant comprises (i) a polymer substrate which has a polar surface and is insoluble and non-swelling in water, (ii) a pigmented image-forming layer on the polar surface containing a water-insoluble but water-swellable polar polymer having groups forming hydrogen bonds, the polymer: pigment ratio being 2:1 to 10:1, and (iii) a light-sensitive layer. The image layer polymer contains amino or amido groups e.g. copolyvinyl pyrrolidone/ethylacrylate, poly (1-amino-4-vinyl-benzene); or free OH or CO 2 H groups e.g. esterified polyvinyl alcohol or hydrolysed methyl methacrylate. The pigments include carbon black, iron oxides and coloured pigments for colour proofing. The substrate is transparent or opaque and may be applied to a further support. The light-sensitive layer is negative or positive working, those containing a dichromate or a watersoluble diazonium salt/aldehyde condensate being described.
