Abstract

The present invention provides a multi-layered energy sensitive construction which is capable, upon imagewise exposure, of providing both positive and negative reproductions of an image by means of a delamination process and without wet development. The construction comprises the following successively adherent layers: a transparent top layer 18, a photosensitive gas generating layer 16 containing a diazonium compound, a resinous layer 14 which may contain a colorant and may possess adhesive properties, an optional adhesive layer 12, a layer 11 containing water-soluble light- sensitive diazo polymer and a hydrophilic base support. On imagewise exposure, layer 11 hardens and layer 16 produces gas in the exposed areas thus allowing the two supports to be stripped apart to produce a positive image on support 18 and a negative image on support 10 which may be used as a printing plate (of Fig. 3). <IMAGE>
