Abstract
152,205. Crawford, A. W. Oct. 18, 1919. Ventilating-shaft tops and terminals.-Air is withdrawn from a vehicle partly by an ejector action promoted by the movement of the vehicle and partly by the action of an exhausting-fan k, which is revolved by a windoperated propeller m. The inner casing e in which the fan k is mounted communicates with the interior of the vehicle and is provided at its ends with hinged doors f which are connected by rcds g so that the wind pressure closes the foremost door and opens the other. The propeller m, secured on the shaft of the fan k, is mounted in an outer casing a open at both ends, the motion of the vehicle producing an air current which not only drives the propeller, but also sets up an ejector action at the open rear end of the casing c. The casing c may be permanently closed at one end for use with a motor-car: and the openings b of the casing a may be covered with gauze.
