[Class 20 (iii)] Fresh air, which may be heated by the exhaust manifold of a vehicle, is delivered by a blower 1, pipes 7, 9, and upward leads 11, 12, to hollow spaces 22, 14, 14<1>, 14<11>, provided with openings and situated below the windscreen and side windows of the vehicle. At the hinged edge of the doors, the connection between the upward leads and the hollow spaces comprises a rubber ring 17 on a bend 15 of the lead and a flange 19 on a bend leading to the space, which parts contact when the door is closed. The opening beneath the windscreen consists of a slot 24 adjustable by means of a plate mounted on inclined slots and pins, and movable by a finger-actuated pinion 31 and rack 29, Fig. 5. The current from the blower is filtered and directed by a flap-valve 3 either through the heating jacket 5 and connector 4<1>, or through the pipe 8 to the pipe 7. The heating jacket is divided by webs 34 into two compartments connected by an opening.
