Ventilators.-The ventilation of an enclosed motor car is effected by one or more movable cowls at the entrance of one or more passages formed in each centre body pillar and so constructed that when closed the external continuity of the body pillar is preserved. As shown, one of the centre body pillars A is formed preferably near the head with a right-angled passage of which one arm opens into the interior of the car at B and is masked by a slotted casing R, whilst the other arm opens to the outside of the pillar at C. Within the mouth C is a plate D with a flange E, said plate being hinged at its upper end to the pillar A, the lower end being received in a guide slot F. The flange E is so formed that when the ventilator is closed it conforms to the configuration of the pillar. The cowl is operated from within the vehicle by a turnbutton L through a lever M and a cranked rod N articulated at 0 to the plate D. In a modification, the cowls on both pillars may be operated simultaneously or individually from a control at the centre of the car body.
