Abstract
622,572. Ventilators for moving vehicles. FITZMAURICE, G. G., HULL, F. J. K., and GRAHAM, A. J. W. March 28, 1947, No. 8488. [Class 137] Air is introduced to the compartments of a railway or other carriage by a duct, or ducts, A which extends longitudinally along the upper part of the vehicle. The ends of the duct are each provided with a hinged flap or flaps B so arranged that the flap at the leading end is opened by the wind pressure, and the flap at the other end is closed. The air passes through filters C into the duct and from thence through ventilators D, regulated by remote controls E, into the compartments, and through slots H into the space between the inner and outer walls F, G of the carriage, from whence it issues through the regulators J into the compartments. When the train is stationary, the hinged members B are opened by means of the levers K actuated by the pull rod L from within the carriage.
