Forced ventilation; ventilating vehicles.- The ventilating means B, B<1> of the traction motors A, A' of electrically - propelled rail or road vehicles are connected by a duct C from which branches a second duct C' leading to screened orifices E in the ceiling or roof of the car body so as to withdraw the vitiated air therefrom. In the case of motors in which reversal in the direction of rotation reverses the air flow across the armatures, the motors are crosscoupled as shown in Fig. 4, a valve H being fitted at the intersection of the ducts. The valve, in the case of tramcars, may be mechanically connected to the doors or folding platform steps. The down duct F, Fig. 3, may be formed by the skins G, G' of the transverse bulkhead.
