Abstract

280,906. Kruckenberg, F. Nov. 16, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 257,193, [Class 103 (iv), Railway &c. vehicles, Body details &c. of]. Ventilating vehicles.-In a vehicle for highspeed suspension railways with seats arranged longitudinally as claimed in the parent Specification, openings 5, 7 are disposed respectively in the lower and upper parts of the body and cooperate with baffles and screens to produce through the vehicle interior an upward current of air which does not incommode the passengers. Pressure cowls may be associated with the lower openings 5 and suction cowls with the upper openings 7. In the construction shown the air currents are directed by baffles 8 disposed below the seats, by screens 4 disposed behind the seated passengers to direct the currents of air above their heads, and by ceiling openings 9, 10, the area of all the openings preferably being variable. Heaters 6 may be disposed below the floor to warm the incoming air, and the screens 4 may be illuminated along their upper edges by lamps 11.
