Abstract
1520501 Ignition systems JELSON ELECTRIC Ltd 1 Oct 1975 [27 March 1975] 13123/75 Heading F1B In an ignition system in which a reservoir capacitor 15 is discharged through the primary winding 17 of the ignition coil when an ionization discharge device 24 is rendered conductive by a control capacitor 20 charged through a resistor 21 to trigger a thyristor 16, the circuit components are mounted on a circuit board and are inter-connected by printed circuit connections on the reverse side, an electrically conductive guard ring 32 encircling the connections at the control capacitor 20, the resistor 21, the ionization discharge device 24, and secondary winding 23 to reduce the tendency for conductive leakage paths to form from these connections to other printed circuit connections. The guard ring is held at a potential exceeding the maximum attainable by the control capacitor, and, as shown, may be connected directly to the H.T. supply line.
