Abstract

1288113 Ignition systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 June 1970 [20 June 1969] 29820/70 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises an ignition transformer 11 which on its output or secondary side is connected to an ignition circuit containing at least one sparking- plug 13 and on its input or primary side 14 is connected in the discharge circuit of an ignition capacitor 17 containing an electronic discharge switch 18 and also in a D.C. circuit 15, 82, 83 leading directly to a power source 22 and containing an electronic break switch 83. Control means (not shown) are provided for rendering the discharge switch conducting at the instant of ignition to discharge the previously charged capacitor and a circuit (also not shown) is provided for utilizing a voltage induced in the ignition transformer by such discharge for rendering the break switch 83 forming part of the D.C. circuit non- conductive whereby to make electrical energy stored in the ignition capacitor and magnetic energy stored in the ignition transformer participate jointly in the generation of an ignition voltage intended for the ignition circuit. Modification of the ignition transformer 11 and its connection into the ignition system are described. (For Figure see next page)
