Abstract

1,190,328. Ignition systems. BENDIX CORP. April 4, 1968 [April 10, 1967], No.16337/68. Heading F1B. An ignition system comprises an alternating current source 10, a charging circuit fed by the source and arranged to change a plurality of storage condensers and a control spark gap 30 and an ignition spark gap 40 connected to the storage condensers for sequentially discharging the condensers therethrough. Current limiting means is connected between the source and the storage condensers for limiting backward current flow resulting from oscillatory discharge of these condensers. As shown the system includes a voltage doubler arrangement comprising condensers 18, 19. The ignition spark gap 40 may be of shunted surface type. The system is for use in jet and gas turbine engines.
