1520310 Gate valves for metallurgical ladles METACON AG 17 Oct 1975 [24 Oct 1974] 42800/75 Heading F4B In a sliding gate valve for a metallurgical vessel having a nozzle block 11, fixed plate 10 held against the exterior of the nozzle, a sliding gate 12 and a discharge nozzle 13 secured to the sliding gate, an annular head 17, 17<SP>1</SP> of trapezoidal cross-section is formed on the outer surface of each valve plate 10, 12 surrounding the apertures 16, 16<SP>1</SP> to form a key with the corresponding nozzle block. The inner diameter of the heads is greater than the diameter of the nozzle bars, which correspond to the diameter of the apertures in the valve plates. In a slide valve having two fixed valve plates, with a sliding gate between them, each fixed valve plate has a trapezoidal section head of greater diameter than the aperture in the fixed valve plate, although the aperture of the discharge nozzle may correspond to the inner diameter of the head, the wall of the discharge nozzle extending beyond the outer face of the head (Fig. 2).
