Abstract
151,594. Olivier, N. Sept. 26, 1919, [Convention date]. Vices.-A quick-adjustment vice of the kind rotatable about two axes at right-angles is provided with a truncated conical support engaging the inclined edge of an oval aperture in a baseplate and resting on a sliding key which may be moved to lock or release the support and so prevent or permit rotation of the vice. The movable jaw j, Fig. 5, having a circular or rectangular part j<1> sliding within the fixed jaw g, is adjustable by a screw k engaging a threaded block n adapted to be disengaged from the screw k for quick adjustment by a cam o, Figs. 5 and 7, engaging a slot n<2> in the block n. The vice is rotatably mounted in a split support f having a conical base f<1> engaging the inclined surface a<1> of an oval aperture in a plate a secured to a machine table c, and is clamped in adjusted position with respect to the support f by a screw r, Fig. 4, passing through a hole in the part s above the split f<2> and engaging a threaded hole s<1> in the lower part. The support f is clamped in adjusted position with respect to the plate a by a key d sliding in a slot a<2> in the plate a and damped against the base f<1> by a handle e engaging the screwed end d<2> of the key. A plate h secured to the jaw g retains the vice in the support f.
