Abstract

876,366. Drill-jigs. JONES, E. March 19, 1958 [March 21, 1957], No. 9231/57. Class 83(3). A jig for drilling dowel holes comprises a base having a stop and a tool guide projecting upwardly thereon thus providing three faces for locating a workpiece in relation to an opening for a tool in the guide. A base 1, Fig. 1, has a stop 7 releasably secured thereon by screws 10, and a tool guide 4 adjustably located by a pin 3 slidable in a slot 2 in the base. The guide can be inverted in which case a pin 8 is located in the slot 2, or moved through 180 degrees, and is locked by a nut and bolt 5-6. Clamps 16 and 20 can each be pivoted about a pin 13 for clamping the work against either the stop 7 or the guide 4. For drilling dowel holes intermediate the ends of a workpiece, the stop 7 may be removed and an adjustable stop 23, Fig. 3, secured to the middle hole 11, Fig. 1. Shims may be used for adjusting the height of the tool-guide A and fiducial lines may be marked on the guide to indicate the centres of the holes AA<SP>1</SP>, BB<SP>1</SP> and CC<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3.
