Abstract

552,501. Optical gauging-apparatus. DUNDAS, Ltd., R. K., KING, R. D., and WOOD, N. F. Sept. 8, 1941, No. 11454. (Class 106 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIII] Jigs for use in drilling, marking out, and gauging work and for like operations may be employed in the construction of plate jigs for repetitive work or drilling for work required singly or in small numbers only. A base 2, Fig. 1, has a groove 20 in which is slidably positioned an angle bar 19 having a cross groove in which is mounted a member 21 carrying a bar 5 secured at 22. The bar 5 is graduated and carries a cursor 6 provided with a vernier and detachably connected by a screw 9 and nut 12 to an auxiliary cursor to provide for fine adjustment when the auxiliary cursor is clamped by a handled cam 14. Similar cams clamp the main cursor after adjustment. The cursor 6 carries an arm 1 at right angles to the bar 5 and this arm also has main and auxiliary cursors the main cursor having a series of holes 4 in which may be placed a bush 36, Fig. 8, having a spring- retracted centre punch 38, or a bush carrying a scriber or a bush 48, Fig. 10, carrying a fixed focus inspection microscope with a branch 49 for a lamp for use in checking up finished work. The bar 5 may be fixed to the base 2 by means permitting angular adjustment about. an axis parallel to the bar a graduated disc indicating the angular adjustment made. This enables the jig to operate over a surface at right angles to or inclined to the surface 2.
