Abstract

151,455. Derricott, H. Sept. 2, 1919. Guards, controlling. - In a guard for presses &c. a guard-plate connected by linkwork with the sliding head of the press is positively moved before the tools as the head descends and withdrawn as the head rises. In the construction shown the guard-plate 1 is attached to a slide 3, 4, 5 movable on a bar 2 fixed to the press, and a bracket 9 fixed on the bar 2 carries a bell-crank lever 12, 17 connected by links 13, 18 with the head of the press and the plate 18. Springs 19 may be placed at the sides of the plate 18 to prevent injury to the operator when struck by the plate.
