Shearing; shear-blades.-Sheets are sheared on their edges or at their corners by a machine having two shearing-units, one of which is stationary, the other being moved to position the sheet by the gear actuating the cutters. The machine may be operated manually or by power. The lower cutters 22, Fig. 3, may be mounted on triangular blocks 2 carried by the shearing-units 1, the right-hand one of which is fixed, the other being moved on the bed 8, Fig. 1, by a spring- retained link 16 actuated by a treadle-operated bar 9 connected to heads 3 carrying the upper cutters 21. The heads 3 carry gauge stops 24 and are lifted by springs on release of the treadle. The first part of the downward movement of the bar 9 positions the sheet resting on a table 20, between the gauges 24, further downward movement effecting the shearing operation without further displacement of the movable shearing-unit. In a modification, the upper cutters are actuated by a power crankshaft driven through a clutch which is engaged when a treadle-operated block is depressed to position the movable shearing-unit.
