Abstract

151,440. Davis, A. E. Aug. 16, 1919. Impact pulverizers.-Pulverizers of the rotating-beater type are provided with one or more separate chambers divided by a screen into two compartments one of which is open to the pulverizing-chamber and the other to a box &c. in connexion with suction-producing apparatus. As shown, the open bottoms of the two compartments of the chamber c containing the screen d are situated over slots e, e<1> opening into the pulverizing-chamber a and the suction-box a<1> respectively. The frame d<1>, d<2> of the screen engages in grooves in the narrower sides of the chamber c, the top d" of which is secured by nuts g so that it can be readily detached when it is desired to withdraw the screen. The chamber c may be connected to the chamber a so that it can be attached thereto and detached therefrom by a sliding motion. A depending baffle f near the slot e prevents particles of coal &c. from being driven directly against the screen d. Angleiron bars d<3> secure the top bar d<1> of the screen frame to the cover d<4>. Or the top of the chamber c may be closed and one of the narrower sides of the chamber be detachable. The pulverizing- chamber a has a sliding bottom n operated by a handle i to allow the chamber to be emptied.
